Okay, this is how to set up your Playstation 3 for online play, without setting your firewall security to 'low'.
First of all, go to http://configuration.adsl and log in. (Default username is admin and password is admin - consider changing it if you haven't.) Click 'Configuration', 'Advanced', 'Wireless'. Here, take note of the Livebox name: Like Orange - 0000 or WANADOO-0000 and change the security to 'WEP security only'. (This will be changed back once the livebox is paired). Also, changed the wireless pairing time to '--' (unlimited). Again, you can change with back once the Livebox is paired with the PS3. Click Submit.
Then, go to 'Security', 'Wireless Connection'. Note down your WEP secturity key. 26 characters long, eg: 0123456789ABCDEF1234567
Go to your PS3 Cross Media Bar (XMB), go to settings, network settings, Internet Connection Settings. Say yes when it says you will be disconnected (may not appear if connecting first time).
Select wireless.
Select scan.
A list of wireless networks should appear. Select the one with the SSID of your Livebox name (ORANGE-0000, etc.) and the security should be WEP. Signal strength should be at least 30% for a continuous connection. If not, move the Livebox closer to the PS3 or open a few doors.
Select this wireless network.
Check the SSID. and continue.
In WLAN Security Setting, select WEP.
Type in the 26 character WEP key. (Use the L2 button to shift to the numbers faster)
Continue and select 'Easy'.
Test connection should then work.
Go to Setting, Network Settings, Settings and Network Connections Status List. Look for the IP Address (should start with 192...) and write it down.
Go to Configuration, Advanced, Router and click the 'Add' button near the bottom of the page. You should be at a page titled 'Port Forwarding -NAT'
Under Service: Select the 'Manual Service' radio button and in the text box, type 'PS3'.
ensure the Protocol is 'UDP' not TCP in the drop down list and in the External port and internal port type in the number '4658'.
In the server IP address, type in the IP address you found on the PS3 Settings and Network Connections Status List and type it in.
Click submit.
Now you should be able to play Online games.
Now, go back to your Livebox and change the pairing time back to 10 minutes and change the security to WPA or WEP security. click submit.
[i have a problem to setup my wireless live box with my ps3 every time i try to connect my wireless they reconise the live box but when i put in 32 digits i have an error 8013013e
this 32 digit i found in the back of my live box can any 1 help me to connect my ps3 with my wireless connection plz[/code]
The key is the 26 character code on the sticker, not 32. Should be shown as 6 groups of 4 characters and a group of 2. Enter without spaces using only the characters 0-9 and A-F, letters must be in capitals. After typing it in don't forget to press the 1 button before actually trying to connect for the first time.

It's probably just the settings stored on the PC being different to what the livebox is now using. Use an ethernet connection to goto the livebox security > wireless connection page and copy the key.
Bring up the wireless networks list, and click the option on the left for change the order of preferred networks. Find your livebox in the list and remove it. Now just ok that and try connecting to your livebox. When it asks for the key paste it in, before clicking connect make sure the antenna light on the box is flashing, if not press the 1 button so it is then press connect. You should then be connected again.
cheers for the reply, do i put the ethernet cable one end in the livebox and the other into the laptop, sorry to be a nuisance but i don't have a clue.

Yes plug the ethernet cable into either the red or yellow socket on the livebox and the other end into the laptop (should only be once place it'll fit.
You'll probably get a message in the corner about a local area connection being connected.
Open internet explorer and enter 192.168.1.1, click the link on the page that comes up. Use "admin" for both the username and password for the box that comes up. Click Security on the left then Wireless connection below it. You'll see a box with the key in it. Select it all and Control+c to copy it.
Best leave the page open just incase then follow what I wrote above. Once it looks like the wireless is connected unplug the cable and test it out.
Many, many thanks for this m8, I'd had a few sessions of headbanging until I found this. A brilliant solution, worked 1st time.

Just out of interest, is there any reason why this shouldn't work if I HAVEN'T set up the internet on a pc/laptop?
In other words, do I have to set up my Orange account online before I can get the PS3 to connect? Just got the Livebox, but my laptop's ****ed and it won't be fixed for a good couple of weeks.
