On 11th May, I gave Orange 14 days written notice that if they did not restore the 8mB LLU connection to my satisfaction, I would stop the direct debit, and regard the contract as null & void, on the basis that they had consistantly failed to provide the service they were charging me for.
Sure enough, on the 25th May, things were exactly the same, so I cancelled the direct debit, and returned the dubious LiveBox by NextDay Data post, with a covering letter.
The following week, a young lady rang to offer me all sorts of deals to persuade me to stay with them. All of which I declined. She said that they had been having problems taking payment, and that if the matter couldn't be resolved, they would have to cancel my access on the 12th July. "Good" - said I, "I've got a better idea, do it now love, why waste time."
Finally, she gave up trying when I suggested she ought to start thinking about looking for another job. "What do you mean?" - she asked. "Well", I said, "the way your employers are going, loosing customers at the rate they are, it won't be long before they start cutting back on staff, as well as the service they give to their customers."
Just when I thought I'd heard the last from this pathetic outfit, guess what the postman brought yesterday . . .
A brand new Speedtouch 330 modem and a welcome letter from Orange, thanking me for choosing Orange as my broadband supplier.
Guess what the postman brought today . . .
A letter saying how sorry they were to be loosing me, and a pre-paid plastic bag to return the LiveBox, as they had only loaned me it.
Well, at least it will come in handy for sending back the Speedtouch 330.
I have to ask - Does anyone at Orange know what they are doing ?
At least the cable service I now enjoy from Virgin Media works, and I didn't need a MAC code either.
You've heard of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing - their left hand it so far up their arse the right hand in India don't have a map for it - Hello, my name is John and I can certainly help you with that problem...yeah right.
Nuff said.
Keep the Speedtouch, send the bag back with a compliment slip in it asking for a refund for non service.
