The confirmation email said 'within 5 days'.
It's been almost four weeks now.
I've contacted Orange via email and telephone several times (including a single brief call to MAC technical that cost me a whopping £ and had various 'reasons' for the non-delivery ranging from them having problems with my address (I've been a Freeserve/Wanadoo customer for years - why don't they have my address all of a sudden? Couldn't they... er, contact me for it?) to the order simply not being processed. The last time I spoke to them was Saturday - the Orange employee assured me it would be with me by Friday the following week. That is tomorrow.
Forgive me if I'm not optimistic.
I've got a pc and use a speedtouch modem (and even that connection has been getting flaky recently, disconnecting me after an hour or so). I've also recently got an iMac and discovered that I will need a Livebox to connect it for internet use, hence the request. Orange offered me the Livebox free and a lower price if I took out a six month contract. I naively agreed. Almost a month later, I still don't have it. That lower price benefit is already being eaten into by a month of no internet access for my MAC.
I can't bear to call India again and spend five minutes spelling out my name to someone who can't help me. But I need to get my MAC connected. Am I better off just buying an ethernet modem for the MAC? Or cross my fingers and hope the Livebox will eventually turn up?
Yet another case of Orange suckering in customers to contracts that do not provide anything but headaches.
Honestly, your best bet is to get your MAC code and move to a real ISP.
I don't suppose the Livebox will work when you do get it as either it or the fake service of Orange will fail you.

Andy
A bit late to do that now - I've already agreed to the six-month contract.
I will be sure to move ISP when that expires though - the 'customer support' has been atrocious over the last few months. I moved house a few months back and getting service and assistance in getting things set-up was abysmal.
An update on the Livebox. I got fed up waiting for the damn thing and went out and bought myself a new Belkin router/modem for my MAC (by the sounds of all the problems that other customers have been having with theirs it's probably no bad thing). I'm online with it with NO HELP WHATSOEVER FROM Orange. Thanks for nothing Orange. Your 'service' sucks big time.
A few notes for any Orange employees reading this:
1) Your offshore call centres are a joke. They are losing you custom because of this. I'd rather pay extra than have to call someone in Mumbai who can't speak english, appears to want to keep me on the line for as long as possible and can't actually answer simple questions, never mind assist me in sorting out my issues.
2) If you say you're going to do something, then do it. "Within five days" should mean within five days. If that target is unrealistic, then don't set it. How hard can it be to write an address on a cardboard box, stick a few stamps on it and take it to the post office? Impossible, according to you.
I'm disappointed that I've fallen for your marketing scam and waited for a Livebox that never showed. You will lose my business when the term is up. And I will inform all my friends to steer well clear of you too.
3) You are p*****g off long-term Freeserve/Wanadoo customers who have been loyal to you. Your service is overpriced no matter how many times you reduce the cost. If people can't get online they are being overcharged.
Once it's despatched they should be able to get you the parcel force reference from their system. You can then track it from their website and get in touch with them directly to try and head off any delivery problems.
