Someone somewhere must have worked out how to set up Outlook 2003 (not Outlook Express) to send e-mails via Livebox. I can send / receive via dial-up but can only receive via Broadband.
Orange/Wanadoo Tech Help "only support Outlook Express".
Sending e-mail from Outlook via Broadband always gets "Send/Receive Error" after a wait of about a minute.
Try this first...
Whilst in Outlook, click "Tools">"Accounts">select "View or Change existing email account" and click "Next"(may not be relevant to Outlook 2003)>
click the "More settings...">"Internet Email Settings" popup should appear. Select "Connection" tab>select "Connect using my local area network" and click "OK".
Double check everything is working. If not, revert back to "connect using my phone line" if you are using your dial up modem.
If you are still only receiving emails, may well be a case of changing the outgoing server.
Whilst in Outlook, click "Tools">"Accounts">select "View or Change existing email account" and click "Next"(may not be relevant to Outlook 2003)>Select and highlight the account which you are using and click "Change...">where it says "Outgoing mail server (smtp)", delete the smtp.orangehome.co.uk and enter 193.252.22.139 in it's place (has been the most stable server in the past 2 weeks). Also double check that all your information is correct in here.
Other options, possibly Mozilla Thunderbird or use the webmail for the time being.

I could not receive emails in outlook or in any other email program for just under 2 weeks. Tried virtually everything in this forum including uninstalling all security programs, reinstalling outlook 2003, upgrading to 2007, using all the different smtp addresses (e.g. orangehome, wanadoo, freeserve, fsnet etc etc.) - nothing worked.
Then I tried the numbers above and suddenly, not only can I send emails but when changing back to the smtp addresses listed above, now they all work too!
I have no idea whats going on.
I have one worry though, is the smtp address secure? I mean is it an Orange address and not something from a dodgy phishing site wanting to read your outgoing emails before they send them on?
I don't know much about all this so if someone could reasure me, it would be good.
From what I was told by one of my collegues, it's the direct IP to the email servers. The whois report here (you'll need to manually enter the search for 193.252.22.139, but the information is there) should give you an indication of where it's going off to.
