Well like many of you, i've had so many problems with Orange.
I have been with Freeserve - Wannado - Orange for a total of 7 years now and i'm sad to see the quality of the service go down hill dramatically.
My line is capable of 2.5MB / 250kb per second with downloads.
But for the past MONTH i have been getting speeds of 0.07MB / 7kb - 15kb per second with downloads!!!! That's twice as fast as DIALUP!!! AND I HAVE BROADBAND!!!
As you can tell i'm extremely mad...so i phoned up Orange to do my weekly investigating to find out what has happened.
They told me that i should not be getting those speeds, so they said they will do one final detailed test of my line and see if there are any problems, they said phone back within 48 hours to recieve my results.
So i phoned back 2 days later & they told me that there was a problem with my line, they said that the engineers have plans to fix my line by the 25th June and by then i should be back up to 2.5MB.
Now if this doesn't happen i want to cancel and got o someone else...
But i've been told that i would have to pay the rest of the contract off (6 months) which comes to a total of £135.
I'm extremely mad about this, why should i pay that when they haven't been meeting their side of the contract for 6 MONTHS!!!
So if they don't fix it by 25th June and i want to cancel, is there any way to cancel without paying the fee? I have the right to do so i think? They have been providing a crap service for 6 months and i am not one bit happy about the whole situation.
So please help me!
Have they told you that they will fix your line by a certain date?
Is there a way to cancel my contract with them without paying the £135?
And what is the best internet provider for my area (Dudley).

I wouldn't hold your breath. I've been getting slow speeds for a week now; they put me forward for a line test on Saturday and told me to wait 48 hours. Called back on Monday and they told me that there was a fault with the line which 'BT were supposed to have fixed today (Monday)' and advised me to call back on Tuesday.
Call back on Tuesday and operator in Asian call centre tells me still not fixed and call back in 5 working days - not satisfied with this but deciding not to argue the toss with somebody who doesn't know what they're talking about I call BT and ask them if my line is faulty. BT call me back in about 10 mins and say 'no faults', line working perfectly.
This leads me to believe that Orange are a bunch of liars who'll keep fobbing you off and telling you to call back in 2,3,4,5 or however many working days.
I've very generously decided to give them until Friday to fix the problem or I'll be asking them for a MAC.
