I raised an issue with Orange Cust Servs this evening because the MAC code I requested from them on the 18th of May never materialiised. Reply was that the email may have got lost. I won't argue any further as they gave me the code on the phone.
Have just signed up with BE on their Unlimited package - as advised by stevelondon (many thanks Steve).
The ETA for activation is 10 days. Will give an update once migrated over.

After countless problems with Orange I decided to move and ask for a MAC code, Iwas told by Orange that the problems I had with them would follow me to who ever I went with. When I got a connection with Orange it was 4Meg download and an upload of 228 klbs. I decided to chose Be and it was the best decision I ever made, I am now getting 10Meg download and 1 Meg upload with no connection problems at all. You won't be dissapointed, Ps I've also heard that be are changing there name to o2 (now Sky) later this year and plan to make no change's to its already great service
Thnaks for the vote of confidence with regards to BE_There.
The migration date given to me is the 7th of June, which I am eagerly waiting. Will do a speedtest for the Orange Network before then will compare it with BeThere after the Migration.
Will update around the 7th /8th.
Many thanks to all
My migration to BeThere unlimited completed yesterday (7th June) as scheduled. Installation of BeThere modem/router is simple and took no more than a few minutes - Also got other wireless PCs/laptops we have connected witthout a hitch.
Last night's speed check indicate 4.5Mb and this morning show 6.5mb. Over the next 10 days, once the service has embeded, we will know what speed I should get as a norm. With Orange, the best I got was 2.5Mb ......So, already there is an improvement for a fiver a month less.
Note - The test is conducted using hardwire/Ethernet cable & not wifi.
Bottom line is that majority of those who log onto this forum must be very unhappy with Orange. So, those like me who have always thought of ditching Orange but never done, then I would strongly advise that you do so ASAP - as long as you are not tied in into any contract. I'm not saying go with BeThere but there are many good one out there. I'm on a 3 month contract with BeThere. If things do not work out, I will reconsider.
Remeber, Loyalty doesn't count with any provider, whether its Orange, BT, Pipex or smaller guys like FastUk and BeThere. They are all in there for financial gain - this is pure business.
Sorry to put it so blunt............ but as long as members pays up each month, then no provide care because Shareholders are happy even though they fail to deliver a decent service to customers.
...Orange are obviously worried now, offering to give away the service to keep customers...
Keith
And therein lies the problem. People don't want free broadband; they merely want broadband that works.

What I don't like to see is Orange telling blatant lies when they know they have a fault.
Rang up yesterday to request MAC code after the latest, continuing outage. Was told the problem was that I was on BT servers. Those'll be the BT servers that I was apparently moved from when I lost the service for a month in April, then.
There's sales patter, and there's lying. Unbeknown to Orange, it seems, some of us can tell the difference.
Firstly, want to convey my thanks to all on the forum for the support and also to SteveLondon for the recommendation of BeThere.
Been with BeThere for the last 5 days and seems to bedding in.
Within 24hrs, Speed went up to 4.5Mg & 6Mg , but has now droppped down to between 1.8 & 2.2Mb. Not entirely pleased - will have to talk to BeThere support tonight. This will be the real test i.e how they are with customer service.
In response to the last post by "BrownedOff", I totally agree that its a decent / stable service people want. When signing up, people do get tempted by offers of Free Broadband & then cause a stink when it doesn't work. Conversely, like ourselves, when we are willing to & actually pay £20-30 a month, then we have every right to demand a decent /stable service.
Second part of "BrownedOff" post is the blatant lies that Orange tell. Not just the post we read on this forum, but we all as individuals have experienced this. This is my prime reason for leaving Orange, I would say that the 6-8 yrs I have been with Orange, service has been liveable & worked 80-90% of the time. But when it fails & you call up, the stance they adopt is that we need to prove our & BTs end works before they attempt to look into the issue & try to fob you off. These are the lies that we, as punters, do not like. Had they been honest / upfront, I do not think people would be leaving then as they do now.

Hi nileshpa
Are you using the BeBox? (SpeedTouch router)? have you tried posting your queries in the member centre forum in the speed section? they are very knowledgable in there and also the unofficial forum here

i left after 3 months of dreadful Orange service switched to ADSL24 went live on may 31st no problems average speed with Orange 1meg now 6meg and dosent drop off not bad for same money and 1 month contract .would recomend this isp to anybody.
Further to SteveLondon's post, I looked into the BeThere forum, Bethere FAQ as well as raising a support call to see why I am only getting under 2Mb.
I wasn't very impressed with the knowledge & the response I got from the support personnel One should note that IT support from any company (be it an ISP) is only as good as who you get at the end of the phone. Before someone responses about my view on this, I know this 'cos I'm an Ex-IT guy who has dealt on the frontline.
Back to the BE service, this appears to have settles down to 6.6Mb now over the last 3 days with no known drop outs - so no need to raise a stink. Therefore, my view still remains the same - those considering moving away from Orange, please do so. You will not regret it.
BTW - The Bebox provided is a Speedtouch 780 - Its simple to install & config.

Hi nileshpa
Ive only had to contact bethere twice and that was to switch my line to fastpath which i did by raising a ticket which they did within an hour, there is an official post somewhere on the member forum that says its much quicker to raise a ticket also english staff answer queries posted on the forum and sort things out quiet quickly. If your line is stable they will switch you to fastpath as interleaved is standard.
At present im not using the bebox im using my netgear, anyway glad you got its sorted, btw what is your router syncing at?
They do have their own speedtest Here but seems to record lower speeds than any other speedtests lol.
