Looking for something totally unrelated I have discovered this. It's dated February 2007, this is just a section of the report, I've highlighted the interesting comment :
Right I thought, and after numerous emails, I was not happy, the sales team had lied to me so that I would sign up for another year contract. When I phoned them to say I was not happy and would like now to leave Orange as they obviously can not deliver the service they promise.
I was told I would need to pay £199.00 for the privilege. I was by this time confused. I was told the new contract started when I made that phone call to them and not when I my old contract ran out.
After 54 minutes (on a expensive 0870…use http://www.saynoto0870.com/sea...rch.php to find alternative numbers) being pushed around between bad cop good cop with threats of bailiffs and the like I eventually got through a lady called Marie ex 2299. She said the only way to have my contract terminated without a charge would be to prove that my service is slow. On her recommendation I did speed checks she would phone me back between 5pm and 5.15pm. It was impossible to give me a MAC without this.
She never did I tried to phone her for a few days no luck. No one knows, emm, then I phoned Customer Service High Level Complaints Department (0113 2982005). I spoke to another lady called Joanne (please note they do not give out surnames for fear of being contactable). She told me she would get someone to phone me back. They never did!!!
Frustrated by the whole situation, the lies, and general bad taste in my mouth I remembered that I had a free legal help line that comes with my home insurance.
They told to put in writing that the contract was sold to me ‘On the basis of misrepresentation’ the basis of which was false (I call it a lie) and that I this was unacceptable. And that if I had no joy that I would take legal action. Good advice indeed.
I thought I would give them one more chance by phone. I phoned Customer Service High Level Complaints Department (0113 2982005) again, and to my surprise I got Joanna again, she asked if I got a phone call, I said no. I was informed that Simon had tried to call me but I was not in. I was in and there where no missed calls…emm another lie maybe?
Before she could go on about the technical bull and threats of bailiffs that was given to me before, I rattled out my little speech of the legal advice.
The quickest phone call to Orange so far within 4minutes of making the call I hung up with an apology and my MAC number. So it was possible
This is a condensed version of the events there where many many stressful moments that I as a customer should not have to put up with.
I will be pursuing compensation from Orange for my time the low speeds and the phone calls I will see what happens.
