Big fat liars that they are, Orange told me that the best download speed achievable on my line was 2 meg. I've just connected to Be* Lite and I'm sync'ing at about 15 meg, with one speed test result of around 10 meg. Also, it may be possible to improve this with a bit of tinkering with settings. Orange, you lie!!! So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Didn't have much time to go into it very thoroughly, but iirc it was in the mid-20's. There were quite a lot of FEC errors(whatever that means) so I'm going to check it out in more depth, tonight.

My story is similar to many others, going fine on 2 meg until I upgraded to 8 meg, then speeds dropped to 200-500k even though both Orange and BT said I should have between 6.5-8 meg before upgrading, which Orange later changed to a best possible speed of 2 meg. Downgraded to 2 meg so I went back onto to free use (I have an Orange mobile). Got MAC and baled out. Now happily on Be*. Costing me a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

The FEC errors is because your line is interleaved and not on fastpath which is standard for Be You might get a bit more speed if you change to fastpath if you raise a ticket in the member centre and request to be changed to fastpath they will do it for you usually within an hour of asking i would only advise it if your not too far from your exchange.
