my mate has a livebox connected to wanaorange wireless connection it dont wana-no. the various adapters i have tried with it get as far as finding it excepting the wep key connects but then disconnects and connects in rapid succession continually i have tried this on 3 different computers with 3 different adapters which all work well with other wireless modems which I have set-up i have tried everything wanaorange have told me to try to which they said that

You can purchase a wireless adapter from most computer & electrical
stores, we would only be able to provide limited support for 3rd party
(ie: not our) equipment.

If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.

the problem looks to me like a fault with the modem and do i have to £35 on a wanadoo adapter to find out. any advice would be welcome

are you remembering to press button 1 to "pair" the adaptor and livebox?

that's most probably the cause of your problems as the livebox has MAC filtering through button 1 Wink

yes it wont even try to connect without pressing 1 button

the livebox accepts the computers connection bacause they show up under conncted devices in the livebox settings

Other posibilities...

Wrong WEP key, no spaces all capitals you can be certain by making a wired connection and copying it directly off the livebox config pages as on rare occasions the sticker will be wrong, very rare from my experiences.

Signal problems, sometimes changing wireless channel can help, same config page as the WEP key.

i have tried all 13 wireless channels all the same. if wep key is wrong would the computers get saved as connected devices in livebox settings ?

No, if they're listed in associated devices then they have connected, technically.

Possibly, yes. It's hard to tell, it's always possible there's some odd conditions in the area or interference that's preventing a stable connection.

i have tried connecting this livebox wirelessly in 2 different locations ie towns with the same results

how do i convince wanaorange that the livebox is dead because they don't seem to understand the problems i have explained to them. they just think i should buy a wanadoo adapter because they can't advise on third party adapters, which as far as i could see would do same as the various other adapters i have tried because its the livebox that’s the problem i don't mean to be funny but i have tried everthing they have said and more, i have explained whats happening and i get
