Is the "Attainable download rate (kbps)" the figure that appears when you hover the cursor over the internet connection icon in the Windows system tray?
For a livebox connection no. If you have a speedtouch modem then usually that's the sync speed at the time, usually should be relatively close to the attainable figure a livebox would produce unless the connection's been capped.

I ask because 608 is a figure which has appeared several times in the forums posts recently and it's also the figure that has consistently shown on my in system tray icon for several weeks now, with speedtests generally in the 500-590 range.
The 608 problem is almost exclusively an LLU connection problem where the speed gets capped at that somehow.

Or to put the question another way, can I find the figure that appears on the icon elsewhere?
If it's a speedtouch modem then that should also be within the stats generated for it, useful links thread has one for that.
Inkilin...I really sympathise with you. After all them phone calls to Orange CS and Tach support im sure that the problem should have been fixed by now. But as very usefull they are at Orange..."cough cough...net!" they look like they are giving you the big fat run around...I say GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN. if they try to slap you with the cancellation fee just go to ISPA first then onto OFCOM.

I've just realised that I've been on 608 for the last few days now.. I'm definitely not on LLU as my exchange isn't even setup for LLU.. Is my linespeed being capped at that? Its definitely a figure I've seen a lot lately.. Apart form my brief spell with 1.5gb sort of figures.. (Unfortunately not stable enough for my IP profile to shift).
Oh well.. if it is being capped it wouldn't suprise me.. I'm pretty resigned to the fact that I'll be requesting my MAC code on monday and sending info of my complaint to the ISPA, OFCOM, etc.. Its been 10 days since I lodged the complaint and they haven't done sod all.. AGAIN..
IP profile for your line is - 250 kbps
DSL connection rate: 288 kbps(UP-STREAM) 512 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 215 kbps
608 is only really significant when it's your downstream rate and it never moves from it.
1nkling you're not being capped, your varying profile and sync rates prove this. Your problems stem purely from an instability in the broadband signal you're receiving.
