Glad to see (although I am not sure that glad is a good choice of word here) that I am not the only one experiecing these awful speeds for the last week. I am also a World Of Warcraft player and they game has been virtually unplayable for me, particularly at peak times and all weekend, since the middle of last week. At worst I was hitting 7000ms in the game! I've been playing the game since mid-January and can honestly say I have never had any problems before this week (although I have noticed slight latency problems building probably for about the last 3 weeks).
I've been on the phone to Orange 5 times since Thursday and like other people I was getting the same rediculous advise from their call centre in India until I finally asked someone for my MAC code.
As a result, they have talked me into a free month and 6 months half price what I am normally paying, but that was before I started reading the forums here and on another site and realised that I should probably have just gone ahead and demanded that I get my MAC code.
If the problem isn't resolved soon then I am going to move away from Orange and get myself a new ISP. Any suggestions for a decent one?
BTW I have been with Orange (freeserve/wanadoo) for 3 years and can honestly say that I have never had any problems previous to this.
I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing problems too! Until about a week ago I was getting download speeds of about 500-600kb/s in the evenings, but now its lucky if I get above 50kb/s! Pretty crappy really! If it doesnt improve very soon then I'll have to consider moving ISP. Up until now theyve been fine though
So I've been onto Orange Technical Support for a couple of weeks now, just generally ringing them to see if they're any closer to fixing my variable speed problem. Yesterday my internet stayed at about 6.4Mbps pretty much all through peak times. Strange days.
