When I do the BT speed test - it takes for-ever to load the last 2 pages. It must take a good minute to authorise me when i type me username/passy.
Its been 12 hours now since i restarted box and still profile @ 500k. I mean originally it was at 250 on day 1 so its gone up slightly, but then nothing for 4/5 days? I am still in the 10 days perioud, but still this shudnt be the cause?
The Performance Tester is now testing Broadband connection. Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 500 k
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5152 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 208 kbps

Shouldn't be the cause but the 10 day period can cause some odd things to happen with the speed and profile.
Thanks for all your great advice.I went to bed and my connection was running a 500kb profile, now I wake up and its a 3500kb profile! Getting speeds of 350k-370k a sec!
Only problem is that ive left my live box plugged in downstairs and I really dont think I want it their but I am not unplugging it for at least a week. Might just unplug it, and remove it when I get an email about my VOIP service?
Does anyone know if its anygood? Can you plug your old house phone str8 in? Is it clear?

Well if you want to move it just check it's showing a good length of time connected, over 24 hours prefrably, move it and wait an hour or so before plugging back in. This can actually help kickstart the voip as well, but yeah might as well wait for the email unless it's in a really awkward position.

Should be able to, connect it into the little adapter and into the bottom of the box. Doesn't matter when you do that but it won't run on the talk service until the light comes on. Hopefully won't be long before it comes on, you can also check in the member center to see if it's been activated that way, incase the email is delayed or just disappears.
Quality can vary a little. Some call in using it and sometimes you notice a little distortion other times it's as clear as a normal phone line and you just can't spot it except from the number.

As for the username / password thing - I don't know, but it is slow isn't it?
Also, I'm in my 10 day period but the synch speed / IP profile hasn't been getting any faster or any slower of its own accord ("training"). The only thing that will change things is if I turn my router off for a bit and back on again. Does this suggest I'm on LLU and not max

If the BT speedtest site is giving you your IP Profile then you're not on LLU.
I spoke too soon. My speeds have slowed right down. I think speedtest was llucky cos it's been cr@p all day. but here goes. I don't use a livebox sorry

Edit: just got this
The IP address discovered on the network associated with your telephone number:016179xxxxx, did not match the one we have logged from this browser/connection. Please check your telephone number and try again. If problem persists please contact your CP.
And it's not a typo, as I have a keyboard shortcut for it
Rebooting my router......
Edit again
IP profile for your line is - 4000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5536 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2582 kbps
Looks like every time I've had to reboot the router (cos the speeds have gone down), my synch speeds are going down every time
