Ive had my Broadband package upgrade from 2.2 meg, initially to 3.6 and now back down to (supposidly) 3.2 meg connection, and you've guessed it, the connection is really awful. It is much slower than before, i keep getting disconnected from the internet, and i'm not mightily impressed.
I have been with Orange, back when it was Freeserve and have been happy with them up until now.
My initial thoughts are, change ISP, can anyone offer me advice here?
Shall i stay or ring up and get the MAC code? Any advice who I should swap to? How freely will Orange give me the MAC code?
Lots of questions, i know; any help gratefully recieved
Well it would be useful to know if you're on LLU or ADSL Max, the line stats from your Livebox (ADSL section of the system info page)/router would help with this. If it's ADSL Max then you have a much higher chance of the problem being the same if you migrated to a new ISP.
Oh and technically there is no 3.2 or 3.6 meg connections, speeds over 2 meg go up/are capped at 1/2 meg jumps. Though an LLU connection not reaching it's cap should technically be able to run at those speeds so I believe.

This is untrue I have a sync speed of 5632 kbps 99 percent of the time but ive seen it at 5600 kbps and 5504 kbps. Sync speeds jump around in 32 kbps steps.

Yes but you don't get the sync speed in data transfer, on ADSL Max the profile limits the speed effectively to steps of 1/2 a meg. As I mentioned above for LLU you either run at your capped speed or upto the sync speed if it's below the cap. Though I don't know enough details of the LLU sync/speed setup in place to be certain on that.
It is after all the actual usable speed that matters.
