I STILL can't send emails on either Orangehome OR freeserve/wanadoo. I can receive them and use internet, no problems. I have been trying to send emails since about 10.30 this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just isn't a good enough service Orange are providing. The trouble is that all the ISP's have their faults but not as much as Orange.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I have 5 emails waiting to be sent!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't say it's a relief to hear so many people are having email problems but it does somewhat put my mind at rest. !!!
I've been having problems sending emails for some weeks now and I too have been switching from various smtp's and sometimes the emails go but more often they don't. Even when they do go I don't think it is the changing of the smtp that helped it was just a coincedence. Generally if emails go they go no matter what smtp I am using. I have various accounts some with freeserve, some with wanadoo and more recently orangehome.
I have spoekn to Orange "help" line on numerous occasions but now given up on them. They usually give you patronising replies as if you are stupid or simply blame you for not going through their website sent emails.
After speaking to one particular chap at the help centre he did let slip that Orange are currently undertaking a massive "migration" operation where they are moving old data. So the helpdesk know this but I believe they do not want customers to know as many will ask for compensation. I would rather Orange came clean and told everyone the problem and ask for customers patience over the next few days or whatever it takes.
Hopefully they will solve the problem soon, if not, after eight years with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange then I am off to Sky. !!!!!
If your site is set to use port 25 for outgoing emails (default) then thats the problem, whilst on Orange port 25 traffic not to Orange is blocked as an anti-spam measure. Often the returned error message will mention setting the server to Orange's. There's 2 options. Set Orange's smtp server for sending emails or access your mail server on a different port if possible.
I have tried setting the Port for outgoing emails to all sorts of different settings but still to no avail. No back to the default number 25

The server you want to connect to must allow access on other ports for it to work. Get in touch with the admin/company who run it and ask them if they allow access on other ports, if they don't then you won't have that option.
And BTW that "migration" should be complete today all being well.
This morning sending emails worked on freeserve/wanadoo and Orange up until 3pm. Now neither will work!!!!!!!!!
I am so very ANGRY. It is worse now than it has been since I first had problems!. Before, one or the other worked, now neither works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Here we go again!!! This time I can't send them in the morning either!!!!!!!!!!! It 10.05am.
This is very far beyond a joke and I am now looking for the best ISP to join.
I have had ENOUGH.
I have been a loyal customer for nearly 10 years both with mobile phone and internet. I left Orange mobile last year because I was dissatisfied with their lousy service now I am leaving their internet.
I suggest we ALL leave and then perhaps they WILL get the message that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and pull their finger out to sort it.
Crafty - I think you've just been lucky! A couple in my Outbox did eventually go yesterday, not quite sure when! But today it's back to what is now 'normal'..... and my partner who is on wireless from my connection, hadn't had problems - until Sunday - now his is as bad..... so can't even use his pc now to make contact.
Can someone please tell me how to email Orange? All I can find on their site are phone numbers - and I certainly do not have the patience to go all through that again!
Have now spent £45 on 2 visits from experienced engineers to no avail, meanwhile Orange still keep charging the same.
there you go copied and pasted from one of a hundred in my in and sent box,,expect a reply in 2 days time with a number to ring either customer services or indian tech support,or even some blah about we are not allowed to discuss this due to the data protection act.good luck
I have emailed this address loads of times. The first few times I got a reply acknowledgeing my email. I also got a reply from their technical dept. I have complained to them so many times now expressing my anger and frustration that the problem has got worse. I demanded an explanation, a reduction in my monthly payments or compensation and an apology in my last email but I have not had a reply to this.
This morning I found that I was able to send emails and I still can now at 17.00
Did my rant work or is it just coincidence? I expect it is just coincidence and it will be back to "normal" tomorrow.
