Well my friend had HUGE problems getting ADSL since he's moved, First he had to go through a huge tirade with AOL (they wouldnt remove a marker on his line, but still wouldnt give him internet) Finally AOL got removed from the line but now holy hell has started again, He ordered Orange broadband 2 months ago today and still no connection, the constantly tell him that because he used to have a DACS on the line, it had to go through head office, therefore taking another 10 days... As you can guess that date came and went and still no connection to the internet! What would you suggest he does? Wait it out? or perhaps try and get another ISP before there is a connection? (there is a marker on the line from Orange atm) as you can guess this is extremely stressfull!
Yep, cancel, which should be able to do as Orange have yet to supply anything, and order from a proper isp. Check here http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_r...atings.php
I moved from Orange to newnet a week ago and now realise how s*** my connection with Orange was. Every time I went online I got stressed at how slow it was so even if your friend is connected don't expect it to be any less stressful. Do him and anyone else you know a favour and advise them against using Orange for anything, broadband and mobiles. Good luck.
Odd, usually if there was DACS on the line then there wouldn't be a previous AOL connection on there. Unless when that was removed they re-DACS'd the line again. Though you never know as I've heard of them "finding" DACS after putting broadband on before.
The DACS info comes from BT and it has to be removed before any broadband can be put on, no matter who the ADSL supplier is. When ordering on a DACS line they should of told your friend it can take a lot longer than the normal 10 days. Normally it's roughly a month but can vary a lot depending on what work BT need to do to remove it, it usually seems unbearably slow no matter how quick it's done.
He could cancel but there is a "possible" downside to that. Depending on what stage BT are at in the removal it's possible cancelling would mean having to start over from scratch in the removal process with a new ISP. That could mean an even longer delay before it's activated.
According to BT, the DACS is removed, Rung Orange up today to ask what the hell is wrong with it now... Apparently there is a problem with the line meaning every time he orders it cancels the order after like 5 days... I rung BT wholesale, got a very snappy woman on the other side of the phone, but in the end the Orange order was taken off the line whilst i was talking to her... She said that what Orange did was appalling, and that an official investigation is going out to them. so now he hasnt got an order, i suggest he orders BT broadband seeing as they are more likely to sort the order out... but seriously... Who the hell knows?!
Its laughable to be perfectly honest! they are there to provide internet, yet they dont... then pass you off to other departments! i myself am on Orange, since the days of Freeserve, but seeing the problems that theyve caused him, im seriously considering Migrating myself.
Ok so the DACS is gone, thats the main part done with.
Would be interesting to know where the cancellation is coming from, BT or Orange. If it's Orange then it's not likely to be someone manually cancelling it, that should be easily trackable, but more likely some system glitch immediately cancelling it. First time I've heard of that if it's the case.
Yeah i am confused about it to be honest, he ordered BT broadband today and the order went through without a hitch, Orange still sais hes a member but everyone else see's the line as clear, and marker less
