Hi
Been a customer of Orange for many years, when I upgraded to max on llu the problems began. Some times my connection drops to between 50/100 and 500 kbps the best i'm getting on a good day is 2mbps, and more anoyingly the connection drops out altogether (ppp disconnected) if i switch off the pc and livebox from the mains for about 30secs and switch it all back on we're back in business, I usually get the disconnected ppp when the pc is switched on first thing. I've been in touch with Orange via email and their awful 50p per min phone line several times and been told different stuff each time, one phone call lasted 1.5 hours as they had me reset the livebox whilst on the phone. I've requested an escalation, been in touch with the ISPA with no luck.
Maybe there's a problem with the actual physical phone line, one forum member mentioned he had bad contacts on the telegraph pole, how I'd convince BT to come and check it I don't know as up to now it's been a game of passing the buck!
Has anyone found any solutions to these problems besides changing ISP, maybe I'd best give Orange a chance to sort out their act, as a bet none of the ISP's are perfect? It's just how long do I give it before pulling the plug.
Cheers Alan
There certainly will be a solution to the problems though Orange need to take responsibility for their 'service' and deal with it, which I doubt is going to happen any time soon. I think under the current Orange regime you're better off all round by moving to an isp that gives a s***. Stop stressing yourself out and cut yourself loose of this sorry excuse for an broadband provider.

I was trying to give them the benefit of doubt that they may do as they said on Watchdog and get things sorted, I had problems with NTL DSL some years ago so think most ISP's are the same.
One thing Orange did say when trying to sort out my probs was to take off all virus and firewalls, guess once you're pc becomes unusable problem solved for Orange
I have tried re-routing my phone wires and bypassing my Belkin surge protector this has improved things somewhat, but still only getting 1.5mbps ish, pretty poor when my account is for 5.5, though it does say I can ungrade to 6mbps for free, BUT that comes with another 12 month contract
Have a look here http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_r...atings.php . You'll find plenty of user reviews that prove that not all isp's are the same. I recently migrated to Newnet, mainly as they have a 1 month contract though the fact I'm now paying a fiver less a month is a bonus too. I'm currently getting between 5 and 6 mbps, max I got with Orange, in the middle of the night, was around 2 mbps.
I'm sure you can find a reliable isp that suits your needs and doesn't dick you around like Orange obviously has.

Yes DSL ZoneUK and thinkbroadband (adslguide) are very good sites and informative i notice Orange are right at the bottom of the main ratings and rightly so seems their customers are now speaking out and reflects Watchdogs results, but i doubt if they are bothered they must have quiete a few locked in contracts to keep them going.

On top of all the s*** Orange is dumping on customers I'll just mention this. I've been with Orange since the freeserve days, since December 2006 I can tell you that I got 5 disconnections in total.
Since December onwards, I have got 30 plus disconnections thats 4 months- someone tell me what this signifies?
