Here we go I got back from work today switched on pc and huess what wireless connects then disconnects again. so when it connected again I reset the pc and guess what no wireless connection at all. I am really annoyed by all this as the livebox is now right by pc on the wired connection at the moment untill I can get the wireless sorted out. I have tried changing the channel number as Elhanna suggested in a previous post of mine the other day. I think that my livebox is slowley dying on me. Oh and btw having a download speed of 45.6kbps is really stupid on a 2mbps connection. BTW forgot to add that the wireless connection ONLY stays connected if the wired connection is left on. Please help
Is the wired and wireless connection to the same or different pc's? If it's the same then it could suggest that the wireless isn't really connected at all.
What does it's status show when connected and in the support tab what's the address type and IP?
Thanks Elhanna the Ip address says 192.168.1.39 on the wireless adaptor. I cannot understand it. It has been fine for ages then it will not connect. BTW if I take the wireless adaptor out then the wired connection comes up with limited or no connectivity. Yes they are on the same PC.
Hmm, my first though is something's wrong with windows. Just taking out the wireless adapter shouldn't cause any changes with the wired connection. Resetting TCP/IP could help.
As long as it's windows XP click start and then run, enter the following...
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
You should see a black box come and go, restart the pc and see if anything's different.
Okay I will give that a go tomorrow when I get back from work. I do not think that it is windows as I only done a fresh install of xp about 3 months ago. Well of to bed now thanks again
finally on a break well elhanna got up earlley this morning reset the IP and comp. Wireless connected for 3 seconds then disconnected so I pluged the ethernet cable back into pc that worked fine. unplugged the wireless adaptor reset conp then the wired connection would not connect. It once again came up with limited or no connectivity. Any more ideas????.
Is it possible to try another pc or laptop? That would really show it one way or another where the problem lies. (unless for wired the cable itself is the problem) Right now I'm torn as it still could be easily the pc or livebox causing this and I don't know which.
sorry Elhanna really busy here today. Like I said in a previous post my wireless connection started dropping on the lappy untill I moved closer to the livebox where the livebox is only in the other room. You said to change the channel number which I did then the whole thing just went belly up now nothing seems to work. I really have to go and get back to work now I will inform you of any changes when I get back home. But if you have any more suggestions it would be nice. BTW tried the wired connection on the lappy last night and got the same problem it will not connect without the wireless adaptor being plugged in.
Problem kind of sorted after serveral factory resets. However I still need to be close to the livebox on the lappy and if I change channels it will not connect at all . Still do not know why though.
Sounds like either the livebox is producing a poor signal or you're just in a bad area for wifi.
I do not think it is a bad area for wifi as I ued to be able to use the wireless connection around the house. So I think that the livebox is producing a poor signal . It is a bit of a shame though this could also be why my download speeds are so poor too.
do you have a modem you can try beause if that will connect ok its no doubt your livebox
I have my old speedtouch modem but that will not sortout the poor signal for the wireless connection. Thanks anyway
My other topic of broband speed HERE I have posted in another forum and they have said that I am getting barely a quarter of your expected download speed. I will keep you posted if there are any changes.
