..it can't connect. I've spent ages on thephone with Orange and who are now trying to tell me its a fault witht the laptop, despite the fact that I've nevere struggled to get a connection beore.
It finds it when searching for network connections, but despite all I've treid (disabling security, logging into the configure page using jw's idea etc) nothing seems to work when you try to connect, it just times out.
PC connection is fine, just can't get the laptop working

Any help greatly appreciated!
Yep, got my Live box yesterday, firsty the CD wouldn't load but have solved this through this site and Orange own and now my brand new laptop says it can see the Live box but can't connect to it even though I have entered the WEP key loads of times in different formats. DO you enter it in four digits sections with spaces or all at once????
I haven't entered in 4 digit sections, I've done it as one long line.
Have tried doing it with capitals and lowercase, hasn't made any difference!
Read the sticky above, its got something to do with that, but since I installed the Live box without CD then I can't click on my desktop icon and change the livebox settings cause I don't have an icon!
My head is bursting
The sitautiion is heloped by teh custoemr servies dpeatment. How can you tell me that its my laptops fault when it works with everyone else. you'd think that there might be some sort of patch they could send down the line or something.
Such a shame ,as it works fine with the desktop PC.

Did you get your installation cd to work?? Mines is a 1.5 version and doesnt work! The 'sticky' is on the main page of the forum, have a read at it and see if it helps
Just spent half an hour on the phone to Orange, nae use, thay had me changing every setting under the sun on my laptop, started getting'its your laptop' blame, and its brand new running Centrino
It is frustrating isn’t it?! Thanks for explaining the sticky.
Will check and see if my laptop is a Toshiba when I get home, can’t remember and from all the posts, it seems like that their machines seem to be problems.
Am wondering wether my wirelsss mouse and keyboard are interfering with it. Can’t think of anything else, short of taking it to the Orange Shop

The key should be entered as 26 characters, no spaces, all uppercase letters using only A-F and numbers. Best option is to copy it from the livebox settings so you know it's identical.

The link is just a shortcut and providing there's a connection to the livebox you should always be able to access it by opening "192.168.1.1" in internet explorer.
Regarding wireless the sections you want are:
Security > Wireless Connection &
Configuration > Advanced > Wireless.
Is there anything that cen be sent down the phone line that wil help with this at all? I'm really at a loss on what to do now. Or is it a problem with a specific make of laptop / computer?
A little further forward now, uninstalled flash player9 on my computer and the installation worked fine with the CD.
Got a brand new laptop from Dell and trying to get wireless onto it. HAve followed the 'Sticky' on main page but doesn't seem to get anywhere. When I do the services.msc thing, I get a whole load of catergories and the only thing I can see about wireless is third from the bottom and is called 'Wireless Zero Config@. This is the thing I have been turning on and off. IS this right???
When I change the box to no security and search for a wireless connection, it finds it no probs but then when I try to connect it comes back with an unable message after a few seconds??
Spent 40mins on the phone to Orange this morning, not much use. Getting the ompression thats it's quire a poor product all round!!
I have the same problem at the moment. New laptop 10hrs old (Advent) only has the "Wireless Zero Config" instead in the services.msc.
At the moment I am waiting for the advent disc to finish restore settings to factory as the uninstaller for the Orange setup CD didn't remove everything. I know this cos in internet explorer the Orange toolbar is still there as well as the spinning world in the corner is Orange (wishfull thinking on their part).
I will let you know if I cure it. If you manage to sus it out please do likewise. We may even be able to sell the fix to Orange. Be a blast if they contacted me for it and I set up a 09££££££ number for them to beg for it.
BTW connects fine with no security on the livebox. proves that the wi-fi works if now't else.
I just may have to live with that until contract is up and I go elsewhere.......this bit for Orange spys only. Just ad me to the growing gone asap list.
HAve just about gave up trying to get my wireless connection to work. HAve tried the helpline which puts you through to a call center in India. They do their best but really need someone at the end of the line who can understand when I try to explain wat I have been doing etc.
If anyone has any ideas then please post them.
Also does anyone find their box freezing, especially when using Limewire etc. Turnrd off firewall on Livebox but still hangs up, old broadband was a lot better!!
Be persistant. I have at last got 1 new desktop, 1 Toshiba Lap top (brand new) and 1 very old but slightly upgraded windows 98SE machine all wireless and all on broadband with Orange.
The first 'technician' I spoke to kept insisting I had to upgrde my old machine to get it to go on broadband although it had been working perfectly with a Netgear router for a year (dont ask why I changed its too complicated!).
She would not give me any straight answers when I asked if it was possible to connect wirelessly with 98SE but inferred it wasn't.
Eventully said 'no you cant do it'. When I asked her if she had the technical knowhow to say that she said she did (she didn't).
I insisted on speaking to a supervisor who confirmed it was possible to connect to 98SE via a livebox. He eventually found a technician who talked him through talking me through doing it! The technician couldn't talk to me 'cos he wasn't trained to use the phone!!!!!
Keep trying, get the right people and it does work - eventually.
Good luck - it helps if you have sandwiches and a flask of something to keep your strengh up while you persevere on the phone.
