I see that Wanadoo are now offering 1mg broadband to new customers for £14.99. What do existing customers who are paying £17.99 think of this? When are existing customers going to benefit from any price reductions?
I noticed the change in pricing only recently when I went to the Wanadoo website to view my statement. Does anyone know how long this offer has been advertised?
I upgraded to Broadband and Wireless costing £21.99 from Anytime costing £14.99 in July 2005 I then cancelled wireless because it wouldn't work through 2ft thick granite walls (not something I'd considered when ordering). So the monthly charge was reduced to £17.99 but I have only ever had a connection speed of 512kb, clearly not the 1Mb speed under the original offer. Have I been overcharged all this time?
I am in the process of writing a reply to Wanadoo's enfuriating reply to my original complaint, and am raising the points above. I have also requested a deadlock reference so that I can refer my complaint on to the CISAS (the Communications and Internet Services Adjudication Scheme), who have already confirmed that they can assist me. I was not aware of the ISPA but they seem to be a middleman. Details of my grievance will be posted seperately to this response :o)

The current packages came out start of March I believe, or was it February, I forget now.
Overchangred, not exactly, the packages may look similar but they're different. If you've had any problems meaning you've had to call tech support then the £17.99 package is probably cheaper as the £14.99 tech support is 50p a minute!
This is basically a question of fairness. Why can't Wanadoo offer a range of packages and make them available to ALL their customers?
It is one thing for a rival ISP like Tiscali to offer broadband for £14.99. That is fair competition. It is another thing entirely for Wanadoo to charge it's own customers different prices for the same thing.
I take the point about the cost of calling customer services, but most people will be more concerned about how much they are paying each and every month.
I will be waiting to see what is on offer after the change to Orange. If Wanadoo don't play fair with ALL their customers they will be losing one of them.
The package shake up is good for customers who are on the 2 gig or 30 gig package as you would be paying the same amount and getting wireless and talk for free and would save £4 pound a mouth if already subscribed to the wireless and talk service.
Plus customers on the 30 gig would be getting near unlimited for the same amount.
The only problem i can see is that customers on the 6 gig limit are stuck between paying less and having lower download limit or pay more and get near unlimited.
The starter package is only ideal for new customers as require the speed to be lowered to 1 meg which is a step backwards.
The one thing that would be better would if you could opt out of the wireless and talk service if you have a wireless device such a Nintendo DS or a MAC which have a habit of not working properly with Livebox or customers who where kicked off BT broadband for going over limit and still has the the wireless modem that was part of the service ect.
As Wanadoo is becoming Orange soon there will be a change in the packages.
Well all I can say is take a good look at the packages after the change to Orange. If what I hear is true I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised.
Just a quick update on this topic. A couple of weeks ago I wrote to Wanadoo complaining about the £14.99 package being made available to new customers only. Today I have received a reply stating that it is available to "both new and existing customers". This seems to contradict what they say both in their press advertising and on their website.
It seems clear to me that Wanadoo want to limit the loss of revenue as much as possible, but are prepared to switch existing users rather than lose their custom.
I would advise anyone still on 1mg or less and paying £17.99 to contact Wanadoo Customer Services asking to change. However, there is still the question of what will available after the Orange rebrand. It is probably worth waiting another 2 or 3 weeks to clarify future options. Consider also, as Elhana has stated, that the telephone support is premium rate with the cheaper package.
In an earlier post I wrote about fairness. It appears Wanadoo are prepared to play fair, at least eventually. It's a nice little earner for them in the meantime though.
It's hilarious how many people I see/hear moaning about this. I'm on the Broadband Max package cos I do a lot of gaming etc, I wouldn't DREAM of going on the £14.99 package.
1MB connection, 2GB download limit, Speedtouch modem, premium rate support... If you do need to call them, you'd be paying more than my £27.99 package per month!
You are right there I phoned to get a MAC because i was sick of loosing the connection since xmas and they kept me on the phone 30 mins saying to try this and that when I had already sorted it out and told them so , the PC was free of all spyware and adware , but after the call another check found some spyware/adware clearly from wanadoo, the total cost of the calls before I contacted the ISPA was £17.?? and I am on the £22.99 6Gb option so I spent over £40 that month
