I've started to use gmail, faster and more reliable than Orange.
I noticed some of my emails did not get through too.
I'll just leave the freeserve address to collect spam(nearly 100 a day).
I don't know how you connect but on some routers there is a disconnect when idle for setting, ie it disconnects after a set number minutes. Could be worth checking.
Don't use USB modem's with macs they don't work, the drivers are rubbish.
You are better getting a, ethernet based modem, they all work.
I use a netgear dg834g, very easy to set up too.
