Yep, specifically naming the livebox as the default gateway/dns SHOULD solve the problem, however this was still unreliable for me. The livebox was still reluctant to resolve DNS at times

yes its blatently nothing to do with the wireless channel, or anything else to do with the wireless side of things, as it effects wired computers in exactly the same way
