<Livebox Issues? ~ Livebox looses network (cabled) connection with pc.

I do not understand how to Disable UPnP or how to use DHCP & let the router assign the PCs IP address.
The grey matter in this 73 year old brain need working on.
Disabling UPnP is one of the possible solutions , the other if you're on Win7 (or maybe Vista as well) is to use DHCP & let the router assign the PCs IP address.
It's the latter that solved the problem for me as Win7 seems to get confused if you assign the IP address on the PC/Laptop.
